I am a PhD student (In my final year) in nuclear sciences specialised in gamma-ray spectroscopy and beam-target interactions from the university of sciences and technology Houari Boumediene (USTHB- Algiers, Algeria) and part-time physics and english teacher. My PhD research is about the measurement of the probability of producing gamma-rays (gamma-ray production cross sections) in the interaction of proton beams with elemental target of medical and astrophysical interest. During my many internships at iThemba LABS (Cape-Town, South Africa) I had the opportunity to join and collaborate with scientists from many domains in nuclear physics, which granted me the opportunity to acquire more skills (magnetic spectroscopy, charged particle detection) and deepen my knowledge in my field (coulomb excitation, gamm-gamma and particle-gamma coincidence for nuclear structure ).I work on nuclear reaction calculations and improvement of theoretical predictions based on optical model potential (OMP) calculations as well. I used for this the codes OPTMAN and ECIS for OMP parameter adjustment, and TALYS nuclear reaction code for cross section calculations. I also perform GEANT4 simulations to estimate the response of detection systems and particle tracking throw matter.My professional skills are:- Gamma-ray spectroscopy- Charged-particle spectroscopy- Proton and alpha-particle interactions with target materials- Gamma ray detection (Scintillators ( NaI(Tl), LaBr3(Ce) ), semiconductor detectors (High Purity Germanium HPGe clover detectors) and charged particle detectors (Silicon detectors)- GEANT4 simulations of photon and particle interactions with matter, tracking and simulation of detector response (efficiency calculations).- Nuclear reaction calculations: Optical model potential calculations and parameter adjustments (OPTMAN, ECIS) and reaction calculations with TALYS nuclear reaction code.- Statistical data analysis: using ROOT cernlib program and Radware package.I acquired additional skills in:- Scientific programming: Fortran90/95, c++, Python3 (core, numpy, scipy, pandas, seaborn, statsmodels, matplotlib, XGBoot, TensorFlow (beginner)).- Machine learning and deep learning with Python3 for data science: Data cleaning, data visualisation, linear and logistic regression, neural networks (CNN,DNN), SVM, Random forests, Decision Tree, Clustering.- MySQL (Beginner) I'm a hard worker, very enthusiastic and crave for learning. I can easily blend in a working group or a team too. My trump cards are my strong analytical skills and critical thinking.
