Barry is the Chairman, Chief Revenue Officer and Co-Founder of Proto, an Innovation, Brand and Experience Strategy consultancy based in New York City and backed by WPP. Barry co-founded Proto in 2020 after spending more than 21 years at R/GA, where he last served as Vice Chairman, Global Chief Strategy/Growth Officer. Under Barry's business development leadership, R/GA grew from a company of fewer than 45 employees when he joined in 1999 to a peak of over 2,400 employees across 16 offices globally, all grown organically with no mergers or acquisitions.At R/GA, Barry oversaw the corporate strategy and vision for R/GA, helping position the company for growth with its Fortune 500 global client sector. He was a pioneer of the emerging business trend towards "connected ecosystems" and co-authored the book Connected By Design (2014, Wiley and Sons) as the definitive guide to the strategies shared by Apple, Amazon, Google and many others to create connections between their products and services that had not existed prior to the digital age.Also at R/GA, Barry led the creation of a new consulting business unit called "Business Transformation" that provided strategic services to augment R/GA's prowess in design, technology and communications. Proto was formed from the nucleus of R/GA's Business Transformation leadership team.Barry has served on many boards, including Board Chair of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, Board Chair of Miami Ad School and currently serves on the board of the ANA Educational Foundation.
