At the Rush, I was able to be involved in much more than just traditional accounting responsibilities. I helped to streamline many processes that had been done manually. One of my proudest accomplishments was forming an internal audit department to focus on internal controls and opportunities to maximize company billing events. I also coordinated all aspects of the annual financial statement audit.

As plant controller, I oversaw the financial reporting, planning, and overall cost control for the production of two different brands of boats running at the same time. I was responsible for budgeting and managing inventory. I had the unique opportunity to assist in the company's shift of production to Brazil.

 Budget and forecast costs and inventory for multiple ledgers. This includes regular meetings with management team to discuss strategy and relay financial considerations. Manage monthly external financial reporting for the plant including manufacturing variance analysis, forecast vs. actual communications, and auditor interaction.  Review activity to find and implement cost-savings including starting a cross-functional team to review and analyze opportunities for a greener facility. Lead plant accounting team including supervising payroll, internal efficiency metrics, and invoicing process. Assist with company’s start-up Brazil operation including foreign accounting rules and international import and export guidelines and documentation. Facilitate monthly sales activity with the credit department, sales, logistics, and manufacturing operations to ensure forecasts become reality.

At Brunswick, I worked mostly in the corporate reporting group coordinating detailed accrual schedules for highly subjective accounts. I also worked directly with the CFO preparing weekly cash flow forecasts for multiple reporting units.

 Implemented process changes to expedite and simplify financial analysis during staff transition. This includes streamlining processes using Oracle and advanced Excel. Supervised and trained staff accountants new to the work force. Managed complex transactions including legal reserves, dealer incentives, obsolete inventory and severance accruals all of which are subject to intense audit scrutiny. Forecasted and reported weekly cash flows for seven production plants, logistics ops, and corporate headquarters for calls with the CFO. Organized SOX documentation efforts to streamline and update narratives.

At Deloitte, I was exposed to a wide variety of industries including hospitality, manufacturing, financial services, etc. As a senior, I lead the audit staff by training and coaching them while managing the daily requirements of the engagement.
