About Wade Self, Ph.D.

As a Research-track Faculty Member at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis (WUSM), I lead a translational research team that aims to understand the mechanisms by which gut microbiota contribute to Alzheimer Disease pathogenesis and to develop novel therapeutic approaches. I have a PhD in Biology and Biomedical Sciences from WUSM and over 10 years of scientific experience in neurodegeneration research.My expertise spans multiple therapeutic areas including: Alzheimer, Parkinson, ALS, PSP, FTD, and MS, utilizing modalities including: monoclonal antibodies, RNA-targeting oligonucleotides, small molecules, medical devices, and manipulation of the gut microbiome for therapeutic intervention. I am an effective communicator of complex scientific topics, with multiple publications, presentations, and awards, and an extensive network of industry researchers, academic experts, and clinical key opinion leaders in neurology. I have a collaborative yet strategic mindset for solving challenging problems in drug development, built from experiences in life sciences consulting and venture capital.
