Having graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a degree in Psychobiology, I have focused my career on understanding the intersection between psychology and human health. During my time at UCLA, I specifically sought to address the unique mental health needs of patients experiencing homelessness (PEH). To this end, I staffed an ambulance as an EMT contracted with the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health, worked in a free clinic as a phlebotomist conducting STI testing for PEH, and founded a nonprofit organization with my peers to conduct local homeless policy research and provide support structures for an encampment near campus. After UCLA, I began my studies at Rush Medical College, where I have served as a steerer for Rush Street Medicine (bringing healthcare directly to PEH), OHANA (providing support for end-of-life or chronically ill hospital patients without family support at the bedside), and as Rush’s campus advocate for the Crisis Text Line (a 24/7, text-based mental health support and crisis intervention program).Outside of mental health, I enjoy working with the Buddies Program (a Rush initiative in which students provide companionship to and alleviate the stress of pediatric patients) and have been building on my previous experience as a substitute teacher for the Chicago Public School System by working with Rush’s 5+1=12 high school health teaching initiative.Other projects I am passionate about include a poetry collection I created exploring the patient experience of healing and “Premed Therapy,” a guide designed to help premed students prioritize their mental health—a project that has since garnered 400,000 views on its corresponding TikTok page.
