At Generic Engineering Technologies, I was able to implement a new concept of liaising with our employees; the human resources department is now focused on understanding what people need and knowing how to provide it. As a "Senior Human Resources Officer," I am responsible for hiring, developing and looking after employees. This involves functions such as training and monitoring performance. My main career focus is to be a generalist who performs a broad range of duties and to focus on a particular area each quarter of the year. Quarterly specialisms include employee relations, careers coaching, health and safety and headhunting and ethics in the workplace.With over 4 years of experience in the field, I can genuinely say that HR is no walk in the park. In these past years, my skills significantly improved. HR departments are expected to add value to the organisation they support.
