I joined the Non-Communicable Disease Modelling (NCD) Unit at the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) as a part-time Public Health Economics modeller (Academic Honorary Contract), where I collaborated on the Strategic Public Health and Economic Resource Effectiveness (SPHERE) package and modelling platform.The SPHERE package - built using R - contains a set of functions which analysts can combine to estimate the health, economics and health-economics impacts of a range of prevention strategies. The SPHERE modelling platform is a set of modules implementing the SPHERE package. These modules fall into four components - evidence preparation, population synthesis, simulation and analysis - all highly data-driven and return their outcomes, insights and evidence.My responsibilities included:• authoring the SPHERE package cost-effectiveness functions,• creating the Economics module within the SPHERE modelling platform,• building the Economics module visualisations, and• incorporating the Economics module tabular and graphical outputs into the SPHERE, R Shiny, user interface.
