With a sartorial lineage dating back to the time of the British Raj, I’ve had quite the journey exploring my own passion for handcrafted clothing.I grew up in Dubai, the world’s most vibrant city, where my family has been dressing members of the royal houses of Qatar and the UAE for 40 years. Though I earned my law degree at the University of Sheffield, I decided to embrace my heritage and enter the clothier industry.At Threads & Tailors, I learned the art of tailored suits and clothing. There, I expanded our clientele by launching a corporate division to cater to the market’s need for elegant and refined uniforms.But even with steady growth and exciting expansion, I have strived to leverage my entrepreneurial skills and realise my vision for my own project. In 2015, I launched my fashion label, WAEL. As a range of bespoke and high-end RTW casual wear for men, including polos, t-shirts as well as suits, WAEL is inspired by traditional Savile Row tailoring techniques and innovative minimalism. I’ve personally designed each piece to reflect my passionate spirit for the sartorial arts and to deliver the finest clothes and service possible for my niche clientele. I am a strong believer that passion and perseverance pave the way for success. In Spring 2018, WAEL reached new heights with our collaboration with MINI @ Fashion Forward Season 10. I was also privileged to be recognised by Esquire Middle East as one of 2018’s Best Dressed Men in the Gulf, which also listed us as one of Dubai’s best tailors in their November 2018 issue. WAEL is committed to joining the UAE in building a better, greener future. We launched our Sustainable City branch to produce a new sustainability-focused line. Working with old, unused pieces of clothing, we create an exclusive, sustainable line of bomber jackets amongst others.As WAEL continues to grow, I look forward to working with our clientele to realise the immeasurable confidence that comes with handcrafted clothing.
