Director Marketing Micro Camera Modules & Member Technology OfficeAms Ag Jan 2016 - Nov 2017RapperswilFollowing the acquisition of CMOSIS & AWAIBA by AMS (www.ams.com), manufacturer of silicon based sensor solutions, AMS anticipates to become a leading player of image sensors and micro camera modules for medical, industrial, automotive and consumer applications. I am responsible for two functions in AMS: I contribute to the further development of micro camera module technology, bringing digital camera modules to dimensions of less than 1mm in all 3 axes and novel unprecedented imaging performance. THis includes technology developments and definitions for the novel AMS fab-C currently beeing built in NY. Further my responsibilities involve the worldwide marketing of this technology in various application fields, but above all, medical applications, especially one time use medical devices (disposables). -
Ceo Awaiba Holding SaAwaiba May 2004 - Nov 2017AWAIBA is an innovative design house for CMOS image sensors. AWAIBA develops CMOS image sensors according to specific customer and application needs. (Application Specific Integrated Circuits ASIC) AWAIBA holds key technology for high speed image sensors; low power image sensors; and miniaturized image sensors. Main applications are Machine Vision; Automotive on Board Cameras and Medical Imaging (Endoscope). AWAIBA staff has long term experience in design and development of integrated circuits and peripheral electronics for CMOS and BiCMOS technologies. Key IP blocks which have been developed for reuse are OTA 's ADC 's PGA 's and various pixel matrices. These IP libraries permit fast and cost efficient developments of new image sensors. AWAIBA's business models are turn key sensor development production (fabless); contract development; IP development and licensing and consulting services. Since December 2015 AWAIBA is member of AMS. www.ams.com -
Head Of Sensor Design And CtoPhotonfocus Jun 2001 - Feb 2004Phtonfocus was a startup company resulting from my PHD work on LINLOG(TM) technology for high dynamic range CMOS image sensors. I served as head of the chip design group and as CTO leading several design projects, amongst others a close to first silicon right CMOS sensor for automotive application which is still currently used in middle class cars for blind spot monitoring.I left the company together with the whole image sensor design team, as we felt the the company strategy of sensor development only for in house cameras was not capable to explore the technological potential to maximal commercial success. Other members of my team are now in leading R&D positions at ST, EPFL, and CMOSVision.Over 10 years afther the separation from Photonfocus, I am pleased to act as a sensor supplyer with AMS (CMOSIS) CMV products to the old colleagues at Photonfocus which have now matured to become a reputable speciality machine vision camera manifacturer.

Phd StudentCsem Oct 1998 - Jun 2001I worked at the CSEM Zurich lab in the group of Prof. Peter Seitz on a PHD to the topic of high dynamic range CMOS image sensors in sub micrometer cmos processes. In scope of this PHD I fielded several patents for CSEM amongst which the patent for the LINLOG(TM) technology which lead later on to the spin off a startup company called Photonfocus. CSEM and the group or Peter Seitz is a compelling creative work environment which I can only recommend for any scientist motivated in applied Research. -
ConsultantImec Oct 1996 - Jun 1997I worked at IMEC as consultant on micro lens development for CMOS image sensors and as analogue mixed design engineer on color processing blocks for early CMOS image sensors in the group of Berth Dierickx and Lou Hermans, cooperating with the group of Chris van Hof on technology developments for CFA and ML.
