Wafic Saïd is an investor and philanthropist. He is the founder of Said Holdings Limited, an investment company with interests in fixed income, public equities, real estate and private equity. In 1963, Wafic Saïd joined UBS. Then, after a brief foray into the hospitality industry, he became involved in the Saudi Arabian construction industry. In 1985, following more than a decade of success in the construction industry he decided to change his focus to investment activities. He is also the founding Trustee and Benefactor of the Saïd Business School, the University of Oxford's centre of learning for undergraduate and graduate students in business, management and finance. Additionally, further donations in 2019 support the redevelopment of Oxford’s Osney Power Station into the Global Leadership Centre, a new teaching and residential facility for the School’s prestigious executive education programmes. Today, Wafic Saïd is Chairman of the Saïd Foundation, an English charity dedicated to providing a better future for disadvantaged children and gifted young people from Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. To date, it has helped place over 1,000 talented students from the Middle East in higher education. The Foundation has received over £100 million in funding from Wafic Saïd. Wafic Saïd met his wife Rosemary in Geneva during his time at UBS. Together they moved to the UK and married in 1969. They have two children, Khaled and Rasha, and eight grandchildren. Wafic Saïd is a recipient of the University of Oxford’s Sheldon Medal, a Foundation Fellow of Somerville College, Oxford. He holds the Grand Commandeur Ordre de Mérite du Cèdre of Lebanon and Ordre de Mérite of Morocco.
