Responsible for all Equity initiatives and research including the integration of health equity across CSMS governing bodies, training and preparation of physicians and their health care teams on national standards of equitable care and federally protected groups. Facilitate peer-based learning initiatives designed to coach and assist clinicians in developing core competencies and achieving quality metrics to improve care for their patients and to thrive in a pay-for-value system. This work includes a broad approach to drive quality measures through organizational cultural competence and target health disparities that are avoidable and based on personal characteristics such as race. Previous research projects included identifying and reducing avoidable 30-day re-admissions, reducing health disparities through web-based technology in primary care settings and risk mitigation with Patient Centered Medical Home Recognition. Recognized State Accreditor for the Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

The Connecticut Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Network works throughout Connecticut to improve access to basic health care by linking local community groups with the resources of UConn Health and other health profession training programs. The AHEC Program is based at UConn Health and is implemented through four regional centers located in the Norwich, Hartford, Waterbury, and Bridgeport areas. Regional centers enable AHEC to carry out local programs with great efficiency, and provide statewide local coverage to provide high quality, efficient, effective and flexible services that meet local needs.
