About Waheed Ashiq
I am currently the Managing Director for Adecyn Homes based in West Midlands and Staffordshire. I have had several years of experience working with children and young people who present challenging behaviours. I have a number of qualifications including a certificate in MAPA training, being a qualified instructor, and a postgraduate diploma in management. Adecyn Homes was set up in the year of 2010 in April. It is a provider of residential childcare for young people between the ages of 8-17, both male and female who present complex emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. We are a therapeutic home, aiming to provide a nurturing, safe environment in which the safety and welfare of the young people is paramount. We strongly believe that each young person that comes into our home has a lot of potential, therefore we encourage and motivate the young people to flourish and develop in ways which suit them, making sure each individual need is addressed promptly. We work in collaboration with the relevant external agencies to ensure that the young person in our care is taken care of in a professional manner, in which their needs are the centre of what we work around. Each young person is provided with a care plan which revolves predominantly around them. In addition to this, we also believe that part of the process in helping the young people to achieve to their full potential, is motivating them within the education sector, seeing them reconciled with families, encourage healthy living and so forth. We have a strong team here at Adecyn Homes, and wish to add to the team further. If you have had experience within a residential children’s home, please do contact me to discuss the available roles and hours that we currently have.
Listed skills include Customer Service, Coaching, Public Speaking, Team Building, and 21 others.

Managing Director
CurrentManaging Director
CurrentI am a hard-working, passionate individual with 19+ years’ experience working with young people. My personal experience stemmed with previous work experience had enabled me then, to build the foundation of Adecyn Homes. The running of the homes is by no means a straight forward task, it involves a number of challenges. I am responsible for liaising with the Homes RI, Operations Manager and Registered Managers on a regular basis to ensure the smooth running of the home. Together, myself and the RI will check the relevant paperwork and documents for the homes, updating them as and when required. I also work collaboratively with the relevant external agencies such as Ofsted, police, schools, our psychologist/advocate, social workers etc. again, ensuring the effective maintenance of the homes. I also get involved with the recruitment process for the home. I aim to make sure that the staff that are recruited are experienced and knowledgeable, ensuring that they can work effectively with the young people. When staff have been recruited, I make sure that they undertake the mandatory training that is required to work in a residential children’s home. In terms of training, I am a qualified MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) trainer; I train newly recruited staff and provide refresher courses as and when required. My aim for the homes as a Director has always been to make sure the welfare of the young people and staff are paramount. I continue to look for ways where I can improve and develop skills to enhance the homes.
Foster Carer
I have had a successful 19 years of experience within foster care, emphasising how the values gained within this sector have been the catalyst to building Adecyn Homes. My experience in getting into foster care stemmed from my own personal experience. I have always had the passion to help young people, so being a foster carer has been very rewarding. I have taken on several young people into my own care, helping them develop skills so they are able to confidently transition into independence. The young people that come into our care are given a routine to follow, which I believe will help them structure their day effectively. If necessary, I also make sure that they are put into a local school, and always encourage education to be part of their daily routine. I also make sure that they are taught independent skills such as; cooking, cleaning, independent shopping, travelling alone etc. I liaise with the relevant external agencies, informing the young peoples' social worker, and my social worker of information about the young people in my care. As well as finding a school for the young people, I have the responsibility of registering them to the local GP, opticians etc. We also encourage a healthy lifestyle for the young people, so dependent on age, we do encourage the young people to register at our local gym. I very much enjoy being a foster carer as I love helping young people achieve to their full potential, and will continue to be involved within the foster care sector.
