There's nothing like getting outside your comfort zone to stimulate growth and build new skills. Everything I know about programming, I learned myself by working on projects and trying and testing things to see what worked.I also enjoy teaching others how to code and in 2015 started publishing the Take Up Code podcast. This led to live weekend classes. Then in 2020, I turned the live classes into a full book that shows you how to get started coding from the very beginning. The book is called "How To Code C++ From a Simple Idea to a Game You'll Understand!" and it consists of 2 parts. The first part shows you how to setup your computer and get started coding. The second part starts a large project to build a game from the very beginning. You can get the first part of the book free at TakeUpCode.com and the full book is available in both a downloadable PDF that you can start reading right away and as a hard-cover book printed in full color. Because I taught myself how to code and then spent another 5 years teaching others how to code, I can help you learn how to code too. It's a fun journey and rewarding too.

Founder, Managing PrincipalElectronic Thinking Oct 2007 - Dec 2010Electronic Thinking helps people learn practical and applied electronics to get a better job or reinforce a college education.I left Microsoft to start this company so that you could benefit from my experience in personal, self-paced learning to gain real-world skills in electronics, programming, machining, and marketing. I believe that it matters more what you can do along with your drive and determination to always improve yourself than it does what school or background you come from. You might wonder why marketing is listed with engineering skills. The reason is that it is easy for engineers to develop expertitis and forget that the real work in developing a product is in keeping the customer's needs first and always being able to translate a product's value into something that the customer can relate to.I created a technical education online video subscription that included all the electronic parts and tools needed for members to follow the videos.Operations: Setup website content management system, subscription videocast through iTunes, phone based coaching system, and e-commerce store.
