I lead a group of professional and para-professional application developers responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, and supporting software systems related to scholarly communication and repositories at the Library. I regularly attend national and international conferences and workshops, present research and participate in panel discussions related to my work.Specific activities include: - implementation and support of a planned digital repository to provide sustained access and preservation services to millions of digital files in the University Library's growing digital research collections; - concentrated and sustained technical oversight of production-level systems that support campus-wide use, including the Illinois Digital Environment for Access to Learning and Scholarship (IDEALS), a set of collections and related services that together constitute the campus institutional repository, and the Electronic Theses and Dissertations Deposit (ETD) service, in collaboration with the Graduate College; - collaboration with outside institutions in the development and support of software applications related to scholarly communications services, including ongoing consultation, training and support for University of Illinois at Chicago, in the implementation of repository and ETD deposit services.
