Veteran software engineering, research, innovation and technology leader with numerous families of filed and issued patents. The primary coverage areas are advertising, media delivery and QoE, bandwidth optimization, video encoding and various end user applications on mobile, tablet, VR, AR, Set Top Box, and computer devices.I lead teams of extremely agile rapid prototyping software and research professionals studying market trends and identifying areas for revolutionary solutions. From these areas, we select areas for innovation and research. We file patents to protect the intellectual property generated from our research. Due to the amount of IPR, a subset of concepts is prioritized for prototyping. Great care and creativity are taken to identify business use cases which demonstrate a vision for generating profit from the technology inventions. I present concepts and demo POCs both internally and externally to high level executives and technology professionals at trade shows and customer sites. I also place prototype proof-of-concepts into customer labs for test trials. My teams and I have entered and won several business and technical innovation competitions using a combination of business case development and technology innovation presentations. All POCs show both the technology and business innovation. My latest innovation/research focus is CMAF low latency ABR video delivery + fast startup, 360 video delivery, bandwidth and QoE optimization, virtual and augmented Reality concepts. My focused industries are telecom, internet, cable, DSL, satellite, wireless (5G network slicing, edge processing, low latency), broadcast, video, and connected home.Due to the broad range of skills required for the position of Head of Media Innovation and Technical Research, I can perform in technology, software engineering, product management, vision/strategy and pre-sales leadership roles. I have participated representing my employers contributing to DASH-IF. VRIF. 3GPP SA4 and OpenXR. I have also led research projects which also contribute to multiple MPEG working groups.
