Established a first of a kind in the Middle East, the Egyptian Drug Shortage department, a well-organized, multi-tasked, database controlled, patient oriented department. Constructed the department according to the Food and Drug Association (FDA), Centre for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Drug Shortage Staff ( DSS) guidelines about drug shortages, after studying all publications and workflow charts, actions and recommendations concerning shortages. Built a cooperative, highly responsible, patient devoted team of 11 pharmacists, collecting and dealing with data about drug shortages all over Egypt. Constructed the directorate database, workflow and SOPs. Acquired very good understanding and detailed knowledge for the regulations and workflow of the different directorates in the Egyptian Regulatory Authority, responsible for registering, pricing, importing, inspecting pharmaceutical products along with excellent professional communication links with them. Offer step by step help to companies to be able to overcome the manufacturing/importation problem that caused the shortage. Supervise the issuance of a spectacular monthly drug shortage bulletin in which precisely collected data about drugs suffering shortage and their available generics and alternatives are presented to healthcare professionals and public. Present subjects and issues concerning drug shortages to the Egyptian National Regulatory Authority advisory Committees. Manage standards and measures of receiving complaints across the Drug shortage hotline and ensure fast and adequate response in a timely manner. Review and refinement of all procedures and documentation system. Manage the communication process with other directorates inside The Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Affairs (CAPA), supplying them with helpful, detailed data upon which they take decisions concerning registering new products, increasing products’ prices, Importing essential products…….etc.
