Walden’s Path was conceived by the founder’s in 2013 following which the school and associated activities are beginning in January 2015. Walden’s Path is a result of the culmination of several pedagogues, experiences and variously gifted individuals.All of our founders are individuals who have found learning through research, spirituality, self awareness and by creating unique opportunities for learning beyond the structural, curricular, conceptual, and physical confines of conventional schooling.Henry David ThoreauOur Inspiration:From July 4, 1845 to September 6, 1847, Henry David Thoreau lived in a 10′ by 15′ cabin he himself built at Walden Pond, outside of Concord, Massachusetts. It was partly to escape the 19th century ways that Thoreau isolated himself, to go his own way. Thoreau saw Walden as a chance to escape the premade paths defined for him by 19th century society. In the end, he found he had created his own paths and left to experience other paths as well.Walden’s Path is based on the the notion that people need to be able to get to information following their own path, construct and create their own knowledge and paths. At the heart of this notion is the importance of multiple perspectives and varied ways of interpreting and doing the same thing. Hence, the direction towards different colors of the spectrum indicating different wavelengths, frequencies and possibilities.
