Wale Bakare is a respected, award-winning international Health & Safety Trainer, Certified Auditor and Management Systems Specialist. He has worked and trained in England, Scotland, Turkey, and across the African continent including Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroun, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Mozambique, and Zambia. With over two decades in the teaching of Health & Safety across 3 continents, he is as comfortable in a room of 5 listeners as he is in a hall of 500.His experience and expertise in health and safety have given him the opportunity to coordinate and supervise many health and safety projects both in the public and private sectors in Nigeria. This includes many inteernational agencies-funded projects in the public Water Sector over the past 15 years, taking him and his team to at least 16 States in Nigeria. Wale was also a member of the World Bank-funded ENPLAN/ATKINS team that carried out the Technical Assistance for the Update of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and the Consultancy Service on Early Flood Warning System and Dam Safety at Kainji and Jebba Dams Rehabilitation Projects under the Niger Basin Water Resources development and sustainable ecosystems management program. A Certified ISO 45001 Lead Auditor and Implementer, Wale most recently led his team to assist Galaxy Backbone Limited, Nigeria's leading digital and infrastructural and solutions services Organisation, to achieve certification of their Integrated Management Systems to the Standards of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22301:2018. Before then, he had served as Team Lead on the E4D SOGA Project on Upgrading HSE Practices and Standards in 30 Selected Ugandan Enterprises, an initiative of GIZ and UKAID. He has also lent his experience in assisting the Lagos State Safety Commission as a Resource Person and Incident Investigator over the years. He is currently serving as Health & Safety Expert on the France Development Bank-funded ITA/OTA Project for the Plateau State Water Board.A prolific essayist and published author, Wale is a commentator on world affairs, and is well-versed on African and especially Nigerian matters.
