Under his leadership, MoneyGram successfully executed a digital transformation, completed numerous capital market transactions, resolved complicated legacy regulatory matters and rapidly evolved its business model to deliver innovative financial solutions that connect the world's communities. With more than 150 countries digitally enabled, 2,200 employees, a strong culture of innovation and a relentless focus on utilizing technology and AI, Alex positioned MoneyGram to lead the evolution of digital P2P payments. The success of these efforts culminated in the sale of MoneyGram to Madison Dearborn Partners in June of 2023 for $2 billion.As Chairman & CEO, Alex was instrumental in leading the most recent iteration of the MoneyGram journey, leveraging its modern, mobile and API-driven platform to build the leading digital business model, completely transforming the business. Alex is also an award-winning champion of innovation, and spearheaded industry-leading efforts to utilize blockchain technology to change the way money moves across borders. In 2022, Alex initiated a global brand awareness campaign launching a Formula 1 title sponsorship with the Haas racing team to create the newly named MoneyGram Haas F1 Team.An advocate of social impact, Alex led company initiatives focused on empowering others through education and financial inclusion, as well as cultivating a corporate culture of diversity. During his tenure, MoneyGram won awards for Top Work Place, Best Places to Work and Most Trustworthy Companies in America. In addition, Alex serves on the board of Vogel Alcove, a nonprofit organization with a mission to help young children overcome the lasting and traumatic effects of homelessness. He is also a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Innovation Advisory Council and part of the Global One chapter of the Young Presidents Organization.Alex is an established thought leader on global payments and has been featured in multiple print publications including the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and Forbes.
