To Whom it May Concern,My name is Walker Davidson and I’m seeking employment as an Organizer/Representative with your organization or local union.I am 25 years old and over six years ago I joined the family business as a third generation cannabis activist. Recently, that developed into helping organize my coworkers at my Sweet Flower cannabis dispensary, along with the coordination from the UFCW Local 770 cannabis team, to attain our first union contract. Now, the skills I’ve acquired and the experiences gained have allowed me to pursue a path in worker driven organizing in any industry that could benefit from the same process that directly helped make my coworkers lives better.I’ve now spent the past few years developing my skills as an organizer, including almost two years of negotiating experience as a Bargaining Committee member and then continuing on as a Shop Steward at Sweet Flower - a company that conducted one of the toughest anti-union campaigns by any cannabis company in the State. They fired pro-union workers, ran disinformation campaigns, hired spies and anti-union agents, and dragged out the negotiation process as long as they legally could. This was supposed to weaken our effort but it only galvanized me and my coworkers to form our union. I spent most of my free time organizing my coworkers at all five Los Angeles Sweet Flower stores, and led my coworkers in important petitions and actions that helped result in our victory. My time serving as a SPUR (Special Projects Union Representative) with UFCW Local 770, and the immense amount of worker organizing I have been able to participate in over a relatively short time displays my commitment to fighting to improve workers' lives.Thank you for your time and consideration.
