Helping others has always been a top priority in my life; many would say that I have a passion for helping others. I strive to be available for friends in need, and I have helped others through volunteer efforts in the community since elementary school. I believe it is important to give back to the community, and I have accomplished that through community service with my Boy Scout troop, church youth group, and school (National Honor Society). In researching careers, I wanted to make sure I focused my research on careers resulting in direct service to others. In addition, I have been very active in sports throughout my life, and I like to exercise. I have immensely enjoyed playing organized sports. I have played on soccer teams, t-ball/baseball teams, flag and tackle football teams, and track teams. In addition to working out on a regular basis, I also play a lot of disc golf in my spare time (especially during COVID). I have a passion for sports. For example, I loved watching football so much that I volunteered to film all of the varsity practices and games my sophomore year, and my number one criteria in choosing a college was a division 1 football team. I learned a lot playing sports, and I look forward to using that knowledge in a future career.During my time in sports, I saw many player injuries, including my own. There are a lot of athletes that need to see medical providers to overcome their sports-related injuries, and I believe I can help them given the right education. Accidents happen in sports and in other aspects of life, and people need rehabilitation; I would love to help them improve and resume normal life duties. After some research, I discovered that a career as a physical therapist (PT) ties together the two things I have always loved doing. As a PT, I could use my understanding of body mechanics to plan a course of treatment and serve and encourage others to work hard toward rehabilitation. Specifically, I would love to work with athletes and help them rehabilitate injuries while helping them improve their overall performance. This is the best way to fulfill my dream of helping others while maintaining my affiliation with sports.
