Ever since I attended a filmmakers workshop in middle school, I knew that technology was something I am super passionate about. This is what led me to choose my major at IU.Before attending college, I worked part time at a Jimmy John’s for two years. Here I collaborated with a team to efficiently and accurately make sandwiches and I developed basic customer service skills. My love for technology really took off in high school when I took multiple CAD and film classes. In the CAD courses I used a lot of different Autodesk software such as AutoCAD, 3ds Max, and Maya; in the film classes I worked with some Adobe software like Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. These experiences were very interesting to me and really fostered my interest in the technological world. One of my favorite projects we did in CAD was modeling a car from scratch using techniques from previous projects. It was fun as well as challenging to figure out the best way to model it, all while striving to make it look realistic.The summer before my junior year, I had the unique opportunity to apply what I’ve learned at Kelley to a real business. I was able to use my Excel skills to gather meaningful insights from thousands of rows of data, create informative tables and charts, and compile a mailing list. Along with performing these more technical jobs, I was also tasked with using the data collected to provide a valuable marketing recommendation focusing on mainly branding and social media presence. Despite the challenging work, this experience really reinforced my love for the endless possibilities of technology and gave me the chance to apply what I have been learning. This project was one of the most exciting jobs I have ever had, and I hope to integrate what I have learned into my future career.
