An actual product, technical hiking pants aimed at women sized 14-24; a desperately underserved market. Hella proud - launched on Kickstarter at 9am, the project funded completely by noon and raised 600% of its goals. I wrote content, did product development, created data analytics, ran some gophering, applied some sales engineering; the startup life. Data engineering was with Airtable and Python against a NoSQL backend.
  • Middlebury Institute Of International Studies At Monterey
Data Engineer, Researching The Vela 747 Event
Middlebury Institute Of International Studies At Monterey May 2022 - Dec 2022
    Monterey, Ca, Us
As a graduate student, I am using Python, SciPy (curve_fit), digital archeology, and possibly some TensorFlow models to work with the surviving data sets from the time to illuminate a little more about the great nuclear mystery of our time.In 1979, a VELA early warning satellite recorded a signature in the sub-arctic Indian Ocean which resembled that of an above-ground nuclear weapons test, but none of the acknowledged nuclear states took responsibility for the detonation. Much has changed in the nuclear landscape since, with the number of weapons states up to 9 from 5 and the number of warheads down to 25% of the 1980 numbers, but although there are strong suspects, the country/organization that tested remains unknown.
  • Colorado School Of Mines
Phd Student, Center For Advanced Non-Ferrous Structural Alloys
Colorado School Of Mines Mar 2021 - Oct 2021
    Golden, Co, Us
As part of an NNSA Predictive Science Academic Alliance Program Center (PSAAP III), working to advance predictive science via exascale computing by the characterization of a mock high explosive under low to intermediate strain rates (100 meters per second down to 1 meter per second), as well as exploration of processing conditions and particulate size on properties. Data engineering and analysis was ETL from proprietary sources to MySQL, processed in Python for matplotlib, seaborn, and Tableau visualizations.
  • Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
    Virtual Scholar, Global Security Directorate
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Jun 2020 - Aug 2020
    Livermore, Ca, Us
In this role, I developed new deterministic machine-learning model for identifying nuclear signatures and possible construction details of improvised nuclear devices. Also, wrote several unclassified machine-learning models in Python (scikit-learn, PyTorch, and Keras) and then run on and optimized for high performance supercomputers up to 125 petaflops.
  • University Of California, Berkeley
Undergraduate Research Assistant, Department Of Nuclear Engineering
University Of California, Berkeley Aug 2017 - Jun 2020
    Berkeley, Ca, Us
While at Cal studying the Nuclear Engineering undergraduate curriculum, I have learned many things; why the sky is blue, how the streets of San Francisco got their names, the shell model of nuclear structure, the design of nuclear reactors from 10 megawatts to 3000 megawatts thermal, and how Chernobyl exploded to three significant digits.Other studies include risk and decision analysis, how neutron embrittlement defects form in materials exposed to high radiation fields, the calculation of the double differential cross section of nuclear reactions, machine learning applied to nuclear data sets, Python, SciPy, pandas, and varied data sources.
  • Berkeley Lab
Student Assistant, Berkeley Lab Laser Accelerator (Bella) Center
    Berkeley Lab Nov 2018 - Dec 2019
    Berkeley, Ca, Us
The Hundred-Terawatt Thomson scattering experiment sought to use the high-energy electron beam output from a novel laser-plasma accelerator as a photon source for the detection of special nuclear material. My work included data processing using Python, SciPy, NumPy, and ffmpeg which created diagrams and movies of experimental results from a novel laser-plasma accelerator. I also worked on beam line operations, and led development and construction of a single-shot autocorrelator laser pulse timing diagnostic which brought our pulse length down to 42 femtoseconds.
  • Slac National Accelerator Laboratory
Undergraduate Research Assistant, Matter In Extreme Conditions Group
Slac National Accelerator Laboratory Jun 2018 - Jul 2018
    Menlo Park, California, Us
This project included machine learning in Python (scikit-learn), along with Google Cloud Platform and BigTable parallel computing in an attempt to recover ten thousand images of 100 femtosecond laser interferometer datasets from an experimental run at DESY in Hamburg, Germany.
  • Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (Pppl)
Undergraduate Research Assistant, Advanced Plasma Diagnostics Group
Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (Pppl) Jun 2015 - Aug 2016
    Princeton, New Jersey, Us
Developed a snapshot plasma diagnostics visualization package (Thomson Viz) using Python, OMFIT, NumPy, SciPy, and matplotlib to enable fast comparison and understanding of plasma temperature, density, and pressures as related to any other time-based data captured during an NSTX-U plasma shot.
