    New name same firm. No buyout or merger here, just a focus on our future. The name change comes as a result of several milestones over the course of 2013 – Bob Lappas’s retirement, our 20th anniversary, and Eric Davis joining firm founder Walt Havener in ownership of the firm. We felt that this was the right time to embrace a name representative of our work. We are the same firm that remains committed to our clients and partners in providing design excellence and responsive service. (about the name)The name Surface 678 was chosen because it not only reflects what we do but also a level of expertise and where we practice. Surface is the means by which we perceive landscape and beauty and function. As landscape architects we create surfaces that serve the needs of the user, are interwoven with architecture, connect the City and are extension of the site and environment. And 678 is a nod to our specific expertise in zones 6,7,8 as well as our continued regional focus of growth.
