Area of responsibility included six branch offices (Charlotte, Birmingham, Memphis, Orlando, Tampa and Miami), in addition to the Atlanta.

Kansas City, MO

Responsibilities identical to Southeast Regional Mgr. Difference of the two divisions was size. The Midwest was Zep's smallest region (sales) and the southeast was its largest. Approximately 125 operations, customer service and sales personnel in the Midwest serving the largest region by land mass.

Birmingham, AL

Responsible for customer service, order fulfillment, credit, inventory, sales/profits, budgeting and hiring/training of five branch personnel. Area serviced was North Alabama.

Columbus, GA, Columbia, S.C., Cuchi, Vietnam

After basic training, spent ten months in Columbia, SC at their military clerical school teaching typing and personnel management. Spent one year in Vietnam with the 25th Infantry Division in a primary clerical role until the January 1968 Tet Offensive. Many support personnel, including me, were forced into a defensive combat role for four months during.

Miami, FL

Opened Zep's first branch facility in Miami. Hired and trained branch personnel, Responsible for sales and customer service, order fulfillment, inventory and credit/collections.

Birmingham, AL

My first branch manager assignment. This promotion made me the youngest ever branch manager in the Zep system. There was very little formal training at that time and much of that which was learned was OJT. Primary responsibilities were customer service and order fulfillment. This proved to be a great training period in my young Zep career which launched me.

Atlanta, GA (Corporate Office)

Hired in Jan '64 to work in Zep's warehouse and shipping dept. Within a few short months, I was promoted to Administrative Mgr and worked in customer service and sales support. I also managed their novelty and office supply room. This gave me a diverse look at products, servicing customers, office procedures and became my foundation to becoming a branch.
