Member of Emissions and Exposure Research Section, Research Division.Projects:PEAQS - Portable Emissions AcQuisition System: Real-time emissions probe system to remotely quantify emissions factors of mobile sources. Designed and constructed a roadside emissions plume capture, data acquisition system, and database infrastructure to measure PM, BC, UFP, CO, NOx, SOx, and GHG emissions from HDDVs and LDVs in real-time.MMP - Mobile Measurement Platform: Utilize mobile measurement techniques to measure on-road and inter-community air pollution. These studies focus on on-road emissions reductions of black carbon due to rule benefits, quantify greenhouse gas emissions, and assess community exposures. Studies also include high emitter chase studies, intra-community variability, and source apportionment.Commuter Exposure: Conducted field studies to characterize air pollution exposures experienced by California commuters utilizing different modes of transportation. This study utilizes a variety of handheld, low-cost equipment to quantify microenvironmental exposures of commuters to BC, PM, UFP, CO, and NOx.Low-cost sensors: Serve as in-house researcher on next generation air monitoring, low-cost sensors, and sensing technologies through collaborations with external agencies and investigators.Contracts:Soundwall: Manage a research contract investigating the use of soundwalls and vegetative soundwalls as tools for near-roadway air pollution mitigation. This study utilizes a combination of stationary measurements, mobile measurements, and micro-scale models to provide state and local planners with additional tools for near-roadway mitigation options.
