I joined Norfolk County Council as Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board Manager in September 2015. Before this I worked for 5 years as the Safeguarding Adults Lead for a community health provider. I developed this role from scratch, supporting the board and staff across the organisation, from frontline to the senior management team, to meet their obligations to safeguard adults at risk of abuse and harm. I graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 1994 from the University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich as part of the school’s first cohort. I worked in a range of services including physical health, mental health in-patients and forensic services before moving to work in a physical disability team with social services. Between 1999 and 2002 I worked as the Research Assistant for the Cambridgeshire Elders Occupational Therapy Trial, a DoH-funded community-based randomised control trial hosted by UEA.
