Graduating from the prestigious UCSD School of Medicine and completing my residency in Psychiatry we decided to settle in San Antonio. In January of 2011, I opened my own practice with my business partner, Yousuf Allawala. I was featured in the August 1010 edition of San Antonio Man and was a prominent speaker in June 2010 at an addictions conference with former drug czar, retired General Barry McCaffrey. I am President for the Bexar County Psychiatric Society (BCPS) and served as President-Elect for 2011 to 2012. We had 2 BCPS blockbuster meetings featuring Bipolar Disorder and Addictions, with attendance of approximately 50 participants last year and we are offered 3 CME events and 4 blockbuster meetings during 2012 to 2013. I am now working with NEI to write grants and provide programing for CME program and working with TMA and UTSA to provide CME credits for 2013 to 2015. My goal since I became involved in BCPS is to increase membership. I chose psychiatry because it is the one medical career where one can empower a person rebuild his life. For 2012 to 2013, I had the honor of participating and learning from the TMA Leadership College, insights about myself, how to run a nonprofit organization, how to use social media effectively and how to conduct meetings effectively. TMA LC has been an enriching experience.
