I developed a comprehensive research project in 1994 to asses the prevalence of underage drinking / drug use, violence, suicide, and gang membership / behavior among all Rockland County 5th, 8th, and 10th graders in public schools. I selected the instrument (the Pride Survey), designed the methodology, interpreted the data and presented the results. To date, I have surveyed more than 35,000 students. The research has received National attention and garnered many awards as I have shared the data and provided recommendations to school faculty and administrators, parents, students, state and community leaders and officials, prevention experts, politicians, law enforcement personnel, religious leaders and others interested in combating the significant problems the research has identified. The project continues to this day.I've also conducted many other studies investigating, among other topics, nutritional needs of children in day-care and pre school settings, socialization of individuals with developmental disabilities, the discharge preparation and placement of individuals in psychiatric facilities, suicide prevention, reduction of alcohol poisoning incidents among college students, and a needs assessment for young people in distress (homeless). These are a few examples of research I have engaged in during the past 20 years. I remain active in research to this day, currently examining the role culture plays in "deviant" behavior.

I am experienced and skilled at assessment, diagnosis, treatment and referral. My particular areas of expertise are crisis intervention and forensics. I have worked in public and private sectors, at Universities, Colleges, Hospitals, Clinics, and Correctional Facilities (Rikers Island). I have created and supervised a College Counseling Center. I regularly consult with community leaders on issues of underage drug/alcohol use and gang violence. I enjoy working collaboratively in teams. I have continued Clinical Consulting while engaging in other professional activities such as College Teaching, College Administrative work (Vice President/Dean of Students) and research activities.

I taught both Graduate and Undergraduate Courses including The Psychology of Memory and Thinking, Industrial / Organizational Psychology, Research Methods, and a Senior Seminar in Forensic Psychology

I developed and supervised a comprehensive program of student achievement, development, satisfaction and retention. I was responsible for Career Services, Student Discipline, Residence Life, Campus Dining Services, Safety and Security, Emergency Preparedness, Student Activities, Counseling and Psychological Services, Health Services, NCAA Athletics, Campus Ministry, Volunteer Services, Freshman/Transfer Orientation and Graduation, among other areas of the College. During this period, I remained active as a Professor of Psychology, teaching one course each semester including Summer Sessions. I Chaired many Committees, including the College's 10 year Middle States re-accreditation process. I was a Visiting Evaluation Team Member for the re-accreditation of 3 Universities in Pennsylvania. During my tenure as VPSA/Dean, I was selected to attend and completed the prestigious Institute of Educational Management at Harvard University.

My teaching repertoire consists of more than two dozen Psychology and Sociology courses including introductory and historical courses, statistics and experimental design, physiology and neuroanatomy, and human development. I've also taught courses focused on wellness, harm reduction, and pathology prevention such as Health Psychology and the Psychology/Sociology of Alcohol and Drug use. From the student perspective, my most "popular" courses are the ones I bring real-life clinical/experiential material to such as Abnormal Psychology and two courses I created, Deviant Behavior and The Psychopathology of Violence.
