With over a decade of experience in the programming space, I am an advanced software engineer with a deep passion for solving complex problems in the simplest possible way, often leveraging out-of-the-box and critical thinking skills in the process.When I was 15 years old, I started my own website design business, where I built sites for some famous companies around St. George. On top of building the sites completely from scratch using modern technologies like Next.js, React, and Typescript, I built an entire management platform (think wix.com) to speed up development time and also give clientele the flexibility and accessibility they need to represent their business in the best possible light. The main thing I learned from this experience was how to bring multiple different pieces of varying complexity and function to the table, and put them together to create something completely unique. A year later, I started an internship at a fintech startup called beatBread, which is based here in St. George. With offices across the Earth, beatBread is the most prominent backer of independent artists in the music industry, funding both artists and record labels with the money they need to grow using AI and machine learning. I am currently working the role of Product Engineer on the Internal Systems team, where my primary responsibility is to build and manage an integral internal tool that facilitates communication between nearly every single domain of the business.Along with a couple of my most notable examples of industry experience outlined above, I have a long track record of competing in different contests and events related to the computer science field. If you are familiar with Southern Utah Code Camp, an annual 24-hour programming contest here in St. George, then you may have seen me before! Last time I competed (~2.5 years ago) my team and I placed 2nd in the industry division. Apart from Code Camp, I recently participated in the Utah Tech Department of Computing Annual Programming Contest with SOCS club president Colby Starr, where we placed third in the Advanced division. I believe these two experiences highlight my ability to think outside of the box and come up with creative solutions in record time, which I think is an invaluable trait to have in the modern business environment.Going forward, I plan to continue challenging myself in unique areas and overcoming struggles. I'm excited to see what's next!
