Provide leadership, management, supervision, evaluation, coordination, and direction of all special education programs and services for students with disabilities aged 3 to 21. Responsibilities include strategic professional development, creating and managing budgets, monitoring compliance to meet state and federal mandates, and supporting equitable evidence-based practices and programming for academic growth and achievement, social-emotional learning, and behavior management within a multi-tiered system of supports framework.

- Conducted evaluations for children ages 2 through 5 to help determine the need for special education services in the District of Columbia, prepared written reports to summarize evaluation findings and share findings with Multi-Disciplinary Team, Facilitated MDT meetings to determine eligibility and drafted Individualized Education Plans as needed to define measurable objectives within a students ability and developmental levels, Assisted in training of incoming Evaluation Coordinators

-Develop training materials for a variety of audiences on education, classroom management and best practices for special education, deliver professional development to education professionals and paraprofessionals, create hands on and authentic activities to demonstrate education and special education concepts and strategies

- Oversee services for students grades PS-6 including assuring that services occur and address IEP goals through review of data collections and regular weekly communication with service providers. Chair the MDT/CST meetings to address students with difficulties throughout the school, Call meetings with required personnel, Invite parents and serve as first point of contact, Prepare paperwork and maintain accurate files/records, Perform in-take to incoming students who are referred for evaluations or are new to Two Rivers with IEPS or referrals, Supervise special education teachers/service providers, including ELL assistants as needed, Assure proper upkeep of special education files and records to include CSTs, IEPs and MDTs and respond to file audits, records reviews and reporting, Assist in providing staff/professional development for teachers/assistance in establishing quality services, Serve on the Administrative Team and Instructional Team, conduct data analysis and prepare presentations for the staff based on whole school and disaggregated data.

-Evaluating students to determine placement and to develop plan for remediation. Delivering direct instruction and remediation to students who are in need of additional help to access their school curriculum; Responsible for general office operations including answering telephones, billing, responding to customer inquiries in person and on the phone, giving tours and introductions to the KnowledgePoints program.

-Planning and delivering the instructional programs of students with special needs in small class settings; acting as caseload provider and maintaining all special education documentation on caseload; meeting with interdisciplinary team to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs); scheduling and holding parent conferences and interim reviews of student progress, modifying and adapting materials of instruction, serving as a mentor for at risk students, tutoring students in need of remediation, serving as the Learning Disabilities Chair for the Local Screening Committee which makes decisions on the special education placement of students in the school

-Preparing lessons according to curriculum standards, modifying lessons and instruction for special population, creating safe environment conducive to learning, conducting parent-student conferences, creating and evaluating assessments, responsible for teaching all academic areas

-Developing curriculum based on city/nationwide standards, teaching history, modifying lessons and instruction for special needs students, conducting parent-teacher conferences, organizing and performing in school performances/assemblies, co-sponsor of choir, co-founder and co-sponsor of young men's mentoring group, developing professional connections with community

-Planning and delivering the instructional programs of students with special needs in small class settings; acting as caseload provider and maintaining all special education documentation on caseload; meeting with interdisciplinary team to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP's); scheduling and holding parent conferences and interim reviews of student progress, completing team recommended assessments, modifying and adapting materials of instruction, reporting to and advising team members on best course of action to ensure success, acting as chair of the Social Committee which plans social events and fundraisers for the staff to better the school's climate, serving as Team Leader in charge of 11 teachers and over 300 students

-Job Development, On and off site job coaching (training/assessment), writing reports for financing purposes, teaching vocational and job readiness skills to consumers, participating in IHP/ITM meetings, writing and implementing team rehabilitation plans

-Proofreading and editing all written materials in the yearbook and all written correspondences to and from the office, Hiring and supervising writing staff, assigning articles, answering phones and responding to student needs, bulk mailing and typing

-checking library books in and out, billing and mailing, customer service, maintaining copy machines, updating card files
