I am passionate about empowering and liberating people by listening to their stories and designing experiences that help them rise above barriers. In my 10 years of experience, 4 of which were in leadership, I’ve solved complex design problems in a variety of spaces - including social, criminal, and environmental justice, financial tech, and healthcare IT. And with a long-standing focus on nonprofit and cause-connected work, I have developed vast knowledge for a multitude of vulnerable populations.Outside of my design work, there are many things that bring a spark to my life! I teach climbing classes and organize inclusive climbing meetups for POC, queer, and plus-sized climbers. And a UX team that focuses on the “Assisted” tax professional applications and the experience facilitated in our 10,000+ offices. I was a Senior UX Designer and team lead for the latter team. A unique aspect of my role was that I worked on applications with dual user experiences. There is a consideration for how tax professionals use the system and also how clients follow along on the screen while the tax professional completes their taxes. Prior to my joining the company, there was no dedicated UX representation for our tax professional applications. The focus was primarily on our client facing products. It was an exciting opportunity to pioneer this initiative to improve both experiences. Additionally, I led various advocacy efforts to bring deeper awareness of user experience to our development teams. -

We partnered with the local UMKC Law School where the students assisted me in making sure the application design met legal requirements and I educated the students on user centered design.UX services on this project included research, strategy, design, testing, and development integration. -
