Enlisted in the regular army as a private soldier in 1968, later commissioned from the ranks, attended Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Junior Staff College Warminster, served in both the 1st Bn Parachute Regiment and Special Forces. Travelled extensively ending my career in the Territorial Army Reserves as Squadron OC in 1988 to take up a role in the security industry.

Gained an apprenticeship at this famous shipyard being trained as a Turbine Engineer working on the QE2, however, after a long deliberation with my family, decided to resign and join the army and travel the world. (As it happens it turned out to be the correct decision)
