Since January 1st 2020 both publishing companies Standaard Uitgeverij and Ballon Media merged. This merger leads to a huge IT project to bring all IT components of Standaard Uitgeverij and Ballon Media together. The IT components of Standaard Uitgeverij were already migrated to different cloud components while the IT environment of Ballon Media was still a classic on-premise environment. My responsibility is to merge all infrastructure, applications and databases into one totally new efficient and coherent IT environment.

During 20% of my time I am responsible for the full Cloud IT environment of Standaard Uitgeverij and we are implementing improvements each day. All IT services (infrastructure, applications, web services, etc...) have been migrated to the Cloud (Azure, Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, etc ...) and also all business applications are migrated to the Cloud.

Actemium Belgium provides advice, study, realization and support for industrial processes, including a whole range of service possibilities. For the follow-up of their projects on their customer sites like Total, Bayer, BASF, etc... they are using a inhouse developed application. Because this application can not be maintained anymore in the near future I am performing a functional analysis, also making the related processes transparent, in order to determine the next development steps

Determine IT environment & set-up for a books distribution company startup.

During 80% of my time, as an interim IT manager I was responsible for the whole IT environment of MediaGenix. We have aligned IT with the specific global needs of Mediagenix and we were supporting the fast change and growth of MediaGenix. I have professionalized and reorganized the IT department, created partnerships with IT professionals and we have finalized an ERP selection program together with the Mediagenix management team.

At Xylos I was responsible for redefining the companies managed service portfolio. During the same period I was also program manager for a world-wide Office 365 implementation at Umicore where we have migrated more than 7000 employees.

At WPG Uitgevers (Amsterdam) I headed the central IT department of the group. This department is responsible for all IT components at the 9 subsidiaries (500 fte) of the WPG Publishers group (with brands such as Voetbal International, Zwijsen, Standaard Uitgeverij, Happinez, Vrij Nederland, Runners World, Psychology Magazine, De Bezige Bij). I determined the entire ICT policy & strategy in alignment with the IT budget and the various business units. Together with the ICT team (25 fte) I took care of the implementation of the group-wide ICT objectives and this in the most cost efficient way. All ICT services were established in service level agreements based on ITIL. Important values ​​within my ICT policy are result orientation, transparency, innovation and flexibility.

In 2013, the Standaard Uitgeverij Professional division was sold to the Larcier Group. During this period I was asked for a part-time position (50%) in Amsterdam at the IT Shared Service Center and for more than one year I was responsible for all software applications of the WPG Publishers Group (500 employees).Moreover, I remained part-time (50%) responsible for the ICT policy of WPG Belgium. Together with the group ICT manager, I have outlined a centralization process for the entire WPG Publishing group

In 2010, Standaard Uitgeverij was purchased by the Dutch Publishers Group WPG Uitgevers. The focus during this period was to make the loss-making department Standaard Uitgeverij Professional profitable in collaboration with the publishing manager. The management of the customer service center with 2 employees and the entire editorial staff with 5 employees was also placed under my responsibility during this period. In 2013, we recorded a profit of 19% through the efficient expansion and sale of the digital products Sofisk, LexFin & LexSocial in subscription form.In January 2013, the Standard Professional division was sold to the Larcier Group. During this period I was asked for a part-time position (50%) in Amsterdam at the IT Shared Service Center and for 1 year & 5 months I was responsible for all software applications as Manager Application Management of the WPG Publishers Group (500 employees).Moreover, since April 2013, I remained part-time (50%) responsible for the ICT policy of WPG Belgium.

In 2005 my responsibility at Standaard Uitgeverij was considerably expanded and I was ultimately responsible for the ICT strategy, ICT budget supplemented with the market & product developments at the department Standard Professional. The IT department grew to 7 internal employees with 2 service desk employees & 5 developers.

At Standaard Uitgeverij I expanded my scope as an IT generalist and led 2 IT staff. In 1999 there were almost no IT resources available and during these years I significantly expanded the IT infrastructure by adding office automation, a CRM application, asset management software and a management information (BI) system.

One-man business started in secondary occupation with the specialization of consolidating datasets from different applications to gain insight into different databases from a BI system

Janssen Pharmaceutica is a company within the Johnson & Johnson group. In 1996, a major project was set up to merge the Biostatistics department in Belgium-Beerse and the Biostatistics department in New Jersey-USA into one department. Together with a number of colleagues as project manager, I was responsible for designing and realizing this collaboration.

I started my career at the Department of Clinical Research-Biostatistics as an analyst-programmer where analyst-programmers in collaboration with statisticians were responsible for the analysis of clinical trials (phase 1-4) with the aim of bringing new medication to the market.
