My primary role for the past 2.5 years has been taking bedding product ideas or programs created by internal Brand, Sales or Engineering teams then identifying, selecting, qualifying and managing appropriate 3rd-party manufacturers to create product offerings in retail and direct-to-consumer channels to achieve business case goals. In my role as Strategic Sourcing Manager I owned the supply chain, strategy and relationships with our tier 1 as well as strategic tier 2 suppliers. I identified suppliers with the proper capabilities and capacities to support the production and distribution of unique mattress-in-a-box, pillow, protector and other bedding related offerings. Leveraging RFPs, reverse eAuctions and other tactics, pricing and service offerings were negotiated to ensure best total cost of ownership was secured. In my tenure, I lead over 60 successful product launches across 4 brands. Post-launch I drove cost savings initiatives requiring internal and external cross-functional participation and resource utilization. In my 5 years with Serta Simmons Bedding, I completed 42 formal projects with annualized savings in excess of $13MM.Other key activities within my responsibilities included supplier site and component qualification to meet internal durability and quality standards, product regulatory and compliance testing, claims validation, packaging development and testing, retail artwork commercialization, product life cycle management, ERP systems administration and Licensee communication.Prior to my promotion, in my previous role of Sourcing Operations Manager at Serta Simmons Bedding I was responsible for the material continuity of steel, lumber and packaging components to 34 bedding manufacturing plants. Utilizing root cause corrective action and other cause-and-effect tools, I resolved material availability, quality and service issues for the plants and provided 2nd source solutions. When new suppliers or technologies were selected, I was responsible for socializing pertinent information to key stakeholders and updating ERP systems for changeovers while minimizing disruptions.Preceding Serta Simmons Bedding, I worked at Univar USA—a multi-site industrial chemical distributor—as Senior Supply Planner. I was responsible for the replenishment of 1,200+ SKUs and developing supply plans to reduce out of stocks while minimizing costs.I am seeking a sourcing, supply chain or operations role.
