Focused on social emotional learning and behavior management, I lead a team of four in a self-contained behavioral intervention. We create a safe space to help middle school students explore the root causes of behavioral decisions and collaboratively create solutions to these issues. We practice the new coping mechanisms in a safe space and then slowly reintegrate into mainstream classes. We use the CASEL competencies as a basis for a collaboratively managed rubric to determine progress on goals. Applying educational neuroscience to understanding behavioral decisions, we teach students about the stress response system, how memory works, what neuroplasticity is, and how to use this knowledge to develop new ways to deal with stressors at home and in school. We employ ideas from collaborative problem solving and restorative justice to help students who have failed in every other setting find their strengths and their voice in the educational system.

Hooray! I'm very excited to have taught Child Development and Observation at my alma mater starting in January 2014.

I taught Special Education, English Language Arts, Journalism, Speech, and Theater. After school, I teach drumming and percussion.

As a Dual Teacher every summer at Summer Advantage, I teach academics (reading and math) in the mornings and theater in the afternoons. Last year we did Romeo & Juliet in 20 minutes, and the two years prior we did "The Sneeches" by Dr. Seuss.

I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching at Marian as an Indianapolis Teaching Fellow, and I received the 2010 Marian University Master's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Exceptional Needs Education for my efforts.

I supervised the Media Department, the Photography Department, the Car Audio Department, and the Cellular Communications Department, then I became a sales trainer for Magnolia Home Theater

I managed all aspects of the retail sales activity in several locations including Central Ohio and West Virginia, at times also managing the Indirect Sales Activity
