I graduated with a degree in software engineering, and later a PhD, from the University of Florence - Italy. My research fields were computer vision and pattern recognition. I had the opportunity to work with two great research groups: the MICC lab at Univ. Florence (led by Prof. Alberto Del Bimbo), and - for a short period - the IVC lab at Boston University (led by Prof. Stan Sclaroff). My thesis presented techniques and algorithms applied to the automatic extraction of analytics from sport and urban videos. Some of these results appeared in well respected peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings (see the detailed list below).In 2007 I co-founded Magenta (www.magentalab.it), a company that designs and builds software solutions tailored to specific customer requirements. We have specialised in multiple types of applications (enterprise, mobile, embedded) and sectors (transportation, safety, tourism, multimedia). We are also very active in innovation and R&D. This reflects in my current role, which is to work on grants and research proposals. I have co-written, participated in and coordinated, projects funded by various ICT programmes, such as H2020, FP7, ERA-SME, Manunet, Crosstexnet, and others. Recently, I've been using my technical skills for data-science projects, working my way through Python, Pandas, Databricks/Spark, and the like. An example is project AiRISE Inflow that is led by Thales with a consistent support of Magenta.
