After 45 years of U.S. Government service, Dr. Sharp retired in January 2017 while serving as the Senior Associate Deputy General Counsel for Intelligence (general officer equivalent) at the U.S. Department of Defense where he was responsible for providing advice to the Department’s most senior leadership on international and national security law issues related to the worldwide cyberspace and intelligence activities and operations of the U.S. Armed Forces. Principally, he was responsible for the oversight of the legal advice provided to the U.S. Cyber Command and the National Security Agency.Upon retirement from U.S. Government service, Dr. Sharp founded Digerati Strategic CyberSecurity Solutions LLC and advised corporate C-Suite and senior government executives in the United States and abroad. Proven and seasoned, he has experience and expertise in military and business leadership, organization, logistics, law, critical infrastructure protection, cyber warfare, cybersecurity and privacy control frameworks, compliance management, and cybersecurity insights from the U.S. Intelligence Community. Now that he has retired from Digerati Strategic CyberSecurity Solutions LLC, Dr. Sharp proudly serves as a fully certified sworn police officer with the Harrisonburg (Virginia) Police Department and he enjoys traveling internationally with his wife.
