Wamathai.com is one of the few spaces on the Internet one can find a unique blend of fresh and exciting writing from Kenya from several creative genres by Kenyan writers. The website has grown to become the biggest creative writing website in East Africa.Since June 2010 Wamathai.com has hosted a spoken word event called Wamathai Spoken Word at Secrets Lounge (Ground Floor, View Park Towers), at Lenana House Conference Centre (Lenana Road) and recently at the Michael Joseph Centre (Safaricom House, Waiyaki Way). The event fuses poetry with other art forms like music, photography, comedy and film. Past events have featured some of Kenyan top poets like Ngwatilo Mawiyoo, Pepe Haze, Wanjiku Mwaurah, Number 8, Jemedari, Check mate, Nuru Bahati, Kennet B among others. Music acts that have performed include Aziza, Ma3, Wairimu Ng’aru, Lele, Anto, Afrology, Sounds Like A Plan [SLAP], Ka-Hawa Band among others.
