She has served as Study Director and Study Pathologist in Drug/ Medical Device Research and Development at major pharmaceutical and medical device companies, a major medical university, one CRO, and as an independent Preclinical Pathology Consultant (1994-2001; presently). In addition to her specialty in metabolic bone diseases and bone histomorphometry, she has expertise in immunomodulators, immune-mediated arthritis and osteoarthritis as well as general toxicologic pathology. She was the “In-House Bone Expert” at a major pharmaceutical company and a CRO. Dr. High is co-author of several pharmaceutical patents (Prostaglandins and Bone; Cytokine Inhibitors) and is recognized internationally for her contributions to skeletal research. She is author/co-author of over 25 published articles/abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and served as an invited reviewer of two (Bone and Mineral Research; Leukotrienes and Prostaglandins). She has been an Invited/Guest Speaker to National and International Scientific Meetings, Conferences and Symposiums since 1983. Working as an independent pathology consultant as well as an employee, she has experience interacting directly with the FDA, and was instrumental in several studies in obtaining FDA approval to Start Clinical Studies. Dr. High received her BA, Biology/Premed at Colby College, Waterville, ME; DVM, magna cum laude, at Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, AL; and PhD, Pathobiology, NIH-Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. Her PhD Thesis/Dissertation was the Effects of parathyroid hormone, thyroxine and 1, 25-dihydroxy vitamin D3 on cortical and trabecular bone turnover and mineral homeostasis in adult dogs.
