    Nova Scotia, Canada
Watch for Wildlife (www.watchforwildlife.ca) is a new province-wide, public education program to help prevent wildlife vehicle collisions and raise awareness of: 1) how to prevent wildlife-vehicle collisions (WVCs), 2) what to do when a collision occurs, and 3) who to contact when a collision does occur. 4) Public education materials will also include Species at Risk identification and contact information to report sightings and collisions that involve Species at Risk. There is little public information of this kind provided in the Atlantic region, and it is desperately needed. ‘Roadkilled’ wildlife statistics are staggering - and there is no public information available to help reduce the numbers. Public safety and economic impact of vehicle collisions are equally major concerns. Also, while we have a number of excellent wildlife rescues in Nova Scotia, too few people know to call them, or which one they should call if they do hit an animal. Also, there is no public education readily available about how a driver can prevent collisions with wildlife. Please contact me if you are interested in getting involved with the program as a volunteer (collision data collection) or donating to the program: wandab@sierraclub.ca
