In 2003, I enlisted in the US Air Force from Southern California and quickly discovered that my community was just one among many worldwide. Though my initial intention was to travel abroad, achieving an overseas assignment proved to be a complicated feat, leading me instead to the southern United States for the majority of my career. My career began as a Command Post Controller, tasked with delivering accurate information to facilitate quick decision-making among various commands, sections, and agencies. Within two years, I became a subject matter expert and was entrusted with training responsibilities.My subsequent assignment was to the Air Force Search and Rescue Center, where, within two years, I served as an operations program manager. Notably, at the age of 24, I authored an operating instruction for the first time. Concurrently, I held the distinction of being the youngest and lowest-ranking Search and Rescue Duty Officer on the AOC floor, where I was responsible for training other controllers.Approximately five years later, I transitioned into the role of a command and control operations specialist instructor, focusing on instructional course development and the creation of scenario training events.During my tenure as a military training instructor, I oversaw the training of 2.5K officer trainees and nine instructors. Notably, I devised a new training plan and regulation enabling instructor evaluations.After 14 years, I achieved measurable results while leading a team of 40 personnel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment overseeing European Commands joint nuclear operations center. Concurrently, I managed risk to safeguard assets and property valued over $250M while meeting the expectations of senior leadership.Over the past nine years, I have overseen technical writing and editing teams responsible for producing manuals, publications, and instructions.
