• Leads the development of a novel blood-based signature into an in vitro diagnostic kit with industry participations, for the early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma from high risk chronic hepatitis B virus carriers• Leads the in-house genome-wide CRISPR knockout screening platform identify genetic targets for anti-cancer dug resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma and acute myeloid leukemia, with an aim for precision medicine through the development of companion diagnositic biomarkers• Establishes and maintains active collaboration with various key clinical collaborators in both Singapore General Hospital and major hospitals in Guangzhou China to conduct prospective studies to access the clinical sensitivity and specificity of the biomarkers

• Leads the project to explore the in vitro culture of human liver organoid derived from human embryonic stem cells in co-culture with supporting cell types• Establishes and maintains active collaboration with key clinical collaborators in both National University Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital Singapore

• Characterization of the role of hepatitis B viral protein X (HBx) in deregulating microRNA expression and in altering the chromosomal binding sites of tumor suppressor TP53 in HBV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma
