I’m a Singapore based director of photography & creative. My work usually revolves around filming and understanding stories, life, people, adversity, social issues, cultures & conflict around Asia.I came from a directing background but was always in love with the camera. Decided to make the jump to crafting the visuals many years ago and never looked back. I come from a strong documentary background but my big love is also filming narrative projects. Film has always been a burning passion. I truly believe in the collaborative process in storytelling & I’ll work for food on an indie if I love the story! Ultimately It’s the stories and visuals from any genre that move me.My work has taken me all over - filming overseas drama sets on violent crimes in 1970s Singapore to passion project dance films to shooting lions in Africa & tracking orangutans in Borneo & Kalimantan, filming North Korean defectors to being embedded numerous times with Marines in South Philippines in the ongoing war on terror. I’ve also traveIed across Asia trying to understand a part of my own Malay identity in a documentary series. I love narratives and visuals that are layered, conflicted and personal.I’m also an Expert Level 1 Krav Maga instructor with Krav Maga Global and practice the fighting, self-defence and third-party protection system.
