There’s nothing the financial services industry needs more than a teaching hospital. Teaching hospitals specialize in two things: Delivering exceptional patient outcomes and developing the next generation of physicians. They attract world-class doctors who are drawn to an environment that enables them to leverage their expertise and improve the lives of countless patients by developing hundreds of younger doctors over the course of a career. Most financial services firms aren’t set up this way. I fell in love with the business of guiding people through life’s maze of financial intersections while still in college when two generous advisors invited me into their office to learn. I got to see the immediate impact they had on a new client’s life and the compounding impact they’d had on clients they’d served since before I was born. Over a decade later, I hold deeper convictions about the importance and value of these financial guides, the future of our industry, and how we can deliver both exceptional client outcomes and develop the next generation of advisors. That’s why I’m passionate about the team we’re building and our capacity to impact the lives of our clients for generations to come. We’re building a teaching hospital in financial services. If you’re curious about what that means at 49, we should talk. There’s nothing I get more excited about and nothing I believe has greater opportunity to change the lives of clients and advisors. Beyond my work at 49, I’m an avid reader, a curious traveler, and a very slow triathlete. My wife and I love spending time eating good food, playing games with friends, or taking long walks with our pup, Noli.
