I conduct research on magnetically responsive photonic crystals, with detailed studies on how various synthesis parameters affect the morphology and other properties of the resultant nanoparticles. The wavelengths I am interested in range from the entire visible spectrum to near IR, where application is possible in optical communication.

Assist in writing of papers of the research group, as well as guide and aid in laboratory work. The group works on high-K dielectrics as substitutes for silicon gate oxides in the search for silicon technology replacement.

Working on a portable effusion cell for growth of epitaxial thin film crystals, with primary interest in topological insulators. The crystals grown will be characterized using XRR and XRD, and good quality crystals will be studied using angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES).
