As the CEO of American TelePhysicians (ATP), a physicians-led digital health incubator company, Dr. Waqas Ahmed is on a mission to improve patient access, affordability, and awareness using technology. With many years of clinical experience in leading global telehealth ecosystems, he is a recognized expert and speaker on digital health and telemedicine, having been invited to the United Nations, the World Bank, and the WHO to share his insights and initiatives.Dr Ahmed's motivation to be involved in his mother’s care remotely first led him to start American TelePhysicians (ATP), a virtual healthcare company with projects both in the US and international markets. Dr. Ahmed envisioned that telemedicine is not just a patient-to-physician virtual encounter; rather, it is a connected digital healthcare ecosystem to deliver comprehensive care at patients' doorsteps. That vision led to the foundation of ATP as a technology hub and incubator to build smart & inter-connected healthcare ecosystem projects for various specialities and clinical settings. Using its technology and virtual physicians network, ATP joins hands with likeminded healthcare innovators especially physicians enterpreneurs to incubate ideas into reality. ATP's current key projects include CURA4U (healthcare marketplace app for self-pay patients and employees), NeuroX (Brain health ecosystem), Personal Health Monitoring (wellness ecosystem) and Vicare (trasnitional care ecosystem to reduce readmissions). All of these ventures are based on one core mission of improving "3 A" of healthcare, i.e, Access, Affordability and Awareness. Dr. Ahmed is also a board-certified nephrologist and hypertension specialist and an advisory board member at the University of North Florida and LSH healthcare systems. He is passionate about innovation and patient care and has won multiple awards during his career.
