I was headed to college for physics when my band-mate, Nick Hexum (311) called and suggested we move to LA together to be famous. I had some trouble at home so I decided to do it. Nick and I formed several groups as Unity and Unity: Los Angeles with musicians like Marcus Watkins of the Bonedaddies. Chad Sexton come out and joined us. Tim Mahoney (an Omaha member) was busy in college. We played all the big clubs and were a hit but Chad was struggling with LA life. Chad and Nick wanted to go home, I didn't.In LA, I met and fell in love with a USC Film School director named Diana Lynn Young. I scored her final film and we hit it off on the set and became lovers and engaged.I create the.SUN. A Hollywood rock band in the alternative scene. We were a little punk and alternative rock. We did well, got a call from MCA, had the Fixx's producer, Tony Poluso and were on the cusp but drugs got in the way and I had to shut it down.I wrote a web magazine called Spewww. It was a campy, hacking, National-Lampoon sort of mag. Mild nudity and hilarious articles. They brought me on as a writer. Speww was nominated for a Webby in 1996.Writing brought me in to the web world and I wanted to learn to code. Jason Defillipo (Spewww's owner) brought me in to Rocktropolis in creative and music editing and I learned code in my off hours. Soon Rocktropolis promoted me to Technical Producer (basically, the guy that does everything). I created possibly the world's first live music broadcast system of refeashing jpegs and Realaudio. We broadcast Orbital and the Sex Pistols. When Rocktropolis sold to N2K in New York, Diana didn't want to go (they offered us both jobs) so Jason Defillipo of Spewww, Steve Lappin (biochemist and Spewww writer) and I formed Zipco Communications. We were a private, upscale web-hosting service in the Hollywood Hills. I brought in Senetor Barbara Boxer through my lawyer at Roctropolis, Doug Boxer. Due to financial conflicts, I left in about six months.Meld. Meld is an art salon I was a member of in Los Angeles. To support myself at Zipco, I coded Ken Olling's websites. He brought me in to Meld and offered me a partnership in the Meld design firm. However, Diana left me and I wasn't ready. Probably my biggest regret. In the following years I went back and got my Art Degree and do coding, design, sound design and music now. I am interested in Cybersecurity and hope to go to USD this fall.
