Warda Youssouf Email and Phone Number
I am a multidisciplinary artist, arts organizer, and cultural connector living in Toronto. Born in Djibouti and raised in the UK, my journey began as a refugee navigating displacement, unfamiliar systems, and a sense of rootlessness. Toronto's art scene became my refuge and later my tool for storytelling, community-building, and creative healing. In my role as an artrepreneur, I weave together various creative disciplines—filmmaking, visual art, writing, and collaging—curating spaces where art and community intersect. Through projects like 'Feel the Fanka' and my collective, @HouseofArtsto, I’ve supported BIPOC, newcomer, and marginalized artists in rediscovering their voices and creative power whether on a stage, at a home, or with supportive networks. My films and documentaries explore themes of identity, home, displacement, generational healing and sexual health. I am currently developing a feature-length documentary, 'A Cliff Becomes a Village,' and a docu-series, 'Ancestor Project,' which examines East African heritage, pre-colonial practices, and diasporic connections. These works are deeply personal, drawing from my lived experience and desire to reclaim narratives often overlooked. Last year, My experimental film 'Where Are You From?' screened at Regent Park Film Festival and TIFF's New Horizons: Diverse Voices of Canada, while my photography exhibition 'Roots' earned me the David Maltby Award in 2019.My work is deeply rooted in both personal and collective experiences—bridging cultural traditions, reclaiming narratives, and helping others see art as a pathway to self-expression and healing. Whether through curating spaces, producing films, or guiding others creatively, I strive to show up as a facilitator of art-driven impact.Let’s connect—whether you’re interested in storytelling, mentorship, collaboration, or attending the spaces I create. There’s always room at the table.
