Profile bio

About Ward Cameron

I am a guide, photographer, podcaster and storyteller specializing on the natural and human history of the Canadian west. I’m also Tour Director with experience managing groups in far-flung destinations like Ethiopia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, and Cuba. Foremost, I’m a storyteller. My goal is to help people see beyond the scenery and develop an appreciation for the places we visit. I help my guests understand the processes that built the panoramas, the plants, animals, and birds that reside there, and the stories of the people that call them home. As the host of the Mountain Nature and Culture Podcast, I share stories helping listeners expand their appreciation for the Mountain West with stories detailing the landscape, wildlife, culture, and sustainable tourism that makes the mountains special. My photographs are designed to help reflect amazing landscapes while showing a unique perspective to aid appreciation of high elevation and other unique landscapes. I’ve been featured on the Outdoor Life Network, Discovery Channel and the History Channel. As a speaker, I've presented at international conferences and to large corporate groups. I share Canada's stories through television appearances, personal guiding, speaking programs, online education and photojournalism.I’m the author of three books on the trails of western Canada and designed an adventure race that was called “North America’s toughest race” (according to Bike Magazine and Mountain Bike Magazines). I love the outdoors and have built my career around exploring and documenting the natural world.I helped found the Interpretive Guides Association, one of the primary guide certification authorities in the Canadian Rockies. In connection, I train guides looking to enter the industry and help existing guides stay informed through the Mountain Nature and Culture Podcast. If you’d like to connect professionally, please feel free to contact me directly at ward (@) wardcameron.com.
